A Fresh Start

It has almost been a whole year since I have written anything on the blog. Which makes me really sad because a lot of really cool things have happened and I didn't get a change to share them. Rather than trying to play catch up with updating you with what has been going on, I figure that it might be better just to start fresh. So starting today (which fyi is the day I came home from school and my summer officially started) I am going to start blogging on the regular. I really want the blog to evolve and grow and I want to write about a multitude of various topics. I realized the other day that I don''t really have any short term goals to work towards and that kind of really bummed me out. So I deiced that this summer I need to create some new ones for my self.

The first is to write on this blog everyday. It doesn't matter what about but it has to be everyday

The second is that I have to film at least three different things that I am doing a day and compile them into a weekly vlog that will go up on my youtube channel at sometime on the weekends.

I really want to enjoy and remember this summer as it the last real summer vacation I have without any real responsibility and I want it to be filled with fun and epic adventures that I will be able to remember always.

Albany Trip (Part 3)

The last thing we did before going back to school on Sunday was visit one of the local farm. There were cute baby animals that had just been born and some very old animals that looked like they had been around for forever. Unfortunately going to see the baby animals coast money which I have none of so I just have pictures of the older ones. I think the idea of living on a farm is really cool but in reality I don't think I could ever actually do it. There was also a cute little country store in the farm house that sold all kinds of goodies. Including cider doughnuts which are amazingly delicious. If you never tried one you are missing out. My mini-vacation to Albany was a lot of fun and even though none of our other roommates could go I was still supper glad I went. It was the first time I had ever been to Albany and I thought it was a successful trip.

Albany Trip (Part 2)

On Sunday we spent the day outside and in the morning we went on a beautiful nature hike. The trail we took hugs the side of a mountain and over look Albany. The view was great but the hike over all was a little challenging for me because of my fear of heights and falling to my death. Luckily I was able to overcome it and enjoy the great outdoors and the amazing view.

Albany Trip (Part 1)

So the last weekend up at school I went to one of my roommate's home in Albany to go to the annual Tulip Festival. Even though it pretty much rained the entire day of the festival I can honestly say I really enjoyed going. It was also nice to meet my roommate family and have like legitimate food and not crapy college food for a change. I took a lot of pictures that weekend and I am supper glad I did because once the rain cleared up the rest of the weekend was beautiful.

On Saturday we went to the tulip festival. There was music, vendors, food, and of course lots of tulips.

Summer Reading List: Book #2

Alright I have just finished the book Julie & Julia by Julie Powell. I must admit that I broke my own rule with this one I did watch the movie before seeing the book (which I really don't like to do). However that being said I don't think I would have choose to read this book if I hadn't seen the movie first. One might think that I wouldn't have a lot in common with the situation that unfolds in this book but surprisingly I did. I think there are a great deal of thing that Julie feels throughout the book that I fell like I have at least thought something about with in the past two years of packing up and leaving my home and being by myself for the first time ever at college. I don't really know how to explain it. Maybe it the fact that I know I am going to eventually move to a crappy apartment (like the one Julie lived in during the time. Sorry to say but its true) and being really lost about what I am supposed to be doing in life. Maybe its the fact that I am all ready confused about what path I am supposed to take in order for my future to turn out all shinny and bright. I for some odd reason really for see the crappy apartment  to be my future. Which I am both not looking and looking forward to. I definitely know I was not reading this book to learn more about Julia Child. As much as she is to some people, I must admit I always change the channel when a rerun of her show comes on PBS. I also know that I didn't read this book for the cooking and not going to lie when there were really big paragraphs about food and french names and process about how to cook something I sometimes skipped ahead. I think what kept me reading was the relationships and experiences that Julie shared. I guess I really just want my future to be about being in the city with my friends and enjoying it which I like to think Julie experienced during the time in this book. I really couldn't tell you if I like this book. I guess if I had to give an answer I would say that I liked parts of it and that I am ultimately happy that I read it all the way through. Perhaps I haven't figured out what I have taken away from it but I believe that something I read from it will one day come in handy in my future. Even if its just inspiration for coming up with crazy ideas and then stick with them for an entire year.

Summer Reading List #1

During the school year I don't often get a chance to read for fun. Which is a shame because I love reading. SO since it is summer I tend to read a lot and I thought it would be fun to document all the books I read this summer and share my opinions and thoughts on each ones.

So the first book I read this summer was Divergent by Veronica Roth.

I have wanted to read this book for a really long time. In fact I believe my cousin has been pestering me for over a year to read it. And now I know why. I really do love reading dystopian books and this is fantastic. Another driving factor that got me to read this book in that it is going to be a movie that comes out in 2014 and I always like to read the book before seeing the movie. I think that I may like this book better than I like the Hunger Games which kind of has the same post-modern vibe to it. I think maybe because I could see myself living in the world more than that of the Hunger Games books. The really basic down the bone description I would give this book is that everyone alive is separated into fractions based on which quality is most important to them. The are five overall factions and the story revolves around this one girl who is at the age she has to choose which faction she wants to be in and follows her life after she picks. That is all I am going to say because 1) I don't want to accidentally spoil anything that happens because your going to want to read this book and 2) The story gets way more complicated than that and its becomes to hard for me describe the rest of what happens in one blog post.  Basically what I am telling you is to go read this book ASAP! It is so good and it might even be moved into my top three book series ever depending on what I think after I read the next book. Which I can't wait to read and have been looking everywhere to find but none of my local books store seem to have the second book, the only have the first one. #firstworldproblems  #INeedToKnowWhatHappensNext

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day. I spent this lovely day celebrating those who fought and died for our country with my family. I realize that I love Memorial day and the Fourth of July just as much as I enjoy every other holiday that occurs throughout the year.  Every year in my town there is a Memorial Day parade as well as many dedication ceremonies that occur. Here are a few pictures that I shot of the parade and my family just celebrating and enjoying the day.
