Summer Reading List #1

During the school year I don't often get a chance to read for fun. Which is a shame because I love reading. SO since it is summer I tend to read a lot and I thought it would be fun to document all the books I read this summer and share my opinions and thoughts on each ones.

So the first book I read this summer was Divergent by Veronica Roth.

I have wanted to read this book for a really long time. In fact I believe my cousin has been pestering me for over a year to read it. And now I know why. I really do love reading dystopian books and this is fantastic. Another driving factor that got me to read this book in that it is going to be a movie that comes out in 2014 and I always like to read the book before seeing the movie. I think that I may like this book better than I like the Hunger Games which kind of has the same post-modern vibe to it. I think maybe because I could see myself living in the world more than that of the Hunger Games books. The really basic down the bone description I would give this book is that everyone alive is separated into fractions based on which quality is most important to them. The are five overall factions and the story revolves around this one girl who is at the age she has to choose which faction she wants to be in and follows her life after she picks. That is all I am going to say because 1) I don't want to accidentally spoil anything that happens because your going to want to read this book and 2) The story gets way more complicated than that and its becomes to hard for me describe the rest of what happens in one blog post.  Basically what I am telling you is to go read this book ASAP! It is so good and it might even be moved into my top three book series ever depending on what I think after I read the next book. Which I can't wait to read and have been looking everywhere to find but none of my local books store seem to have the second book, the only have the first one. #firstworldproblems  #INeedToKnowWhatHappensNext

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day. I spent this lovely day celebrating those who fought and died for our country with my family. I realize that I love Memorial day and the Fourth of July just as much as I enjoy every other holiday that occurs throughout the year.  Every year in my town there is a Memorial Day parade as well as many dedication ceremonies that occur. Here are a few pictures that I shot of the parade and my family just celebrating and enjoying the day.

SUMMER

So School is out and its time for summer vacation. Oh Yeah! I have spent the past week readjusting to home life and unpacking a lot of the things I brought with me to school. I have also been working really hard to find a job for the summer which is a lot harder than it sound because no one wants to just hire someone for the summer they would rather have someone that would be able to work for a long amount of time. But I have applied a lot of places and hopefully something comes out of it. I have a lot of goals that I want to accomplish this summer including working on making content for my youtube channel, working on my design portfolio and making a real effort to blog everyday. Hopefully I will be able to stick to my planned schedule and obtain some of my goals. so far i havent done anything but starting tomorrow its back to work. I also got my grades for this semester and I got a 3.6 not bad for taking 6 classes and working part time. I think I did pretty great and even though I am happy to be home for summer vacation I miss my friends and the social aspect that comes with being away at school.  Alright so thats all I really have for right now just a little life up date.  Hope everyone has a great weekend =]

Mini Haul

So today I had to go walk to the art store to get a new X-acto knife and right next door is the local drug store. I decided to go in to look around and ended up leaving with a few things. The first thing I got is Simple new eye make-up remover. I have been finding that just using the make-up remover wipes has not been sufficient in getting all my mascara and eyeliner off. Also the area around my eyes are really sensitive and I though the Simple brand would be the best to try first as it made with sensitive skin in mind. I also got some cotton pads to use with the makeup remover. The next thing I got is a cover girl blush in the color 570. It is a lighter pink than the other blush that I have and I think it will be nice for when I just a glow and something not as pigmented. I might even be able to use it as a highlighter. And last but not least I got an Essie nail polish. Its called Maximillion Strasse-Her (824) and its a cool grey-green color and I think it will be a really nice neutral color for spring and maybe even summer. Thats all I got this time around but I'll be home soon and get to go shopping at real stores  like Target and Ulta and I can't wait. = ]

LIVIA GIUGGIOLI and COLIN FIRTH

As much as I liked the more edgy looking styles that some sported I definitely think I much prefer the more traditional glamour look. I absolutely love all the dresses above but I think my favorite is Naomie Harris's dress. I really like the color of it as well at the style. I wish I had an event to go to where I could wear a dress like that. The biggest surprise to me was that Nicole Richie's dress was from Topshop. And she wasn't the only one wearing Topshop that evening either. I think its interesting that people are choosing a regular company over a really high-end designer. Any way that wraps up the Met Gala Red Carpet for this years exhibit. Hopefully over the summer I will get an oportunity to go see the exhibit Punk: Chaos to Couture. Maybe Ill write a blog post about it =].  Don't forget to check out part one of the post.
